How much does a GPS watch for kids cost in Quebec? (watch + plan)
Partager
When shopping for a GPS watch for your child, the displayed price only tells part of the story. A GPS watch needs a cellular connection to send its location and make calls. Therefore, you must account for two costs: the watch itself, and a monthly data plan.
Why does a GPS watch need a data plan?
The watch contains a SIM card. This is what allows the watch to transmit the child's location to the parents' app, receive safety zone alerts, and make or receive calls. Without a plan, a GPS watch cannot locate the child remotely or make calls.
What to check before you buy
- Is the plan included or extra? Some offers display a low price for the watch but impose a more expensive plan or a contract.
- Is there a commitment? A no-contract plan allows you to stop whenever you want.
- Which network does the watch operate on? Coverage matters, especially in rural areas.
- Does the parent app work with your phone? Check for iPhone and Android compatibility.
- What is the warranty and trial period?
