VelioKid was born in Laval in 2023, from the very simple need of a parent who wanted his daughter to be able to play outside, just as we did as children.
It all started at the front door.
Alexandre, founder of VelioKid and father of two children in Laval, perfectly remembers the day his 5-year-old daughter asked to go play alone in the park around the corner.
It was her first real step towards independence. And instantly, this moment of pride mixed with something else: worry. Where is she going? What if she decides to walk further? How does she reach me if she gets scared?
He looked for a simple solution. Not a phone — too early, too fragile. Not a monitoring app — too intrusive. A GPS watch was perfect, but the offerings available in Quebec were outdated, the apps were saturated with ads, and after-sales service left much to be desired.
So he decided to build the solution he was looking for himself. This became VelioKid.
